Home Values Recover To Pre-Recession Values, Making It A Great Time To Sell

The Great Recession was one of the most challenging times in US history. The US lost nearly 9 million jobs, unemployment nationwide hit an astounding 10%, and housing prices fell a whopping 33%, causing American households to lose of $16 trillion dollars in net worth.

But luckily, the economy started improving in 2010. The GDP grew an impressive 19% from 2010 to 2017, and the economy added jobs for a record-breaking 88 consecutive months, recovering all the jobs lost during the recession. Not to mention, unemployment fell to 4%.

But one area that was a bit slower to recover was home values. Many homeowners who lost a significant portion of their home’s value in the recession have been hesitant to sell—especially if they purchased their home when prices were high.

But according to Evaluating The Housing Market Since The Great Recession, a recent report from CoreLogic, homeowners who lost value in their homes during the recession finally have something to celebrate. According to the report, the average house price is now 1% higher than it was at the peak of the real estate market in 2006, growing 51% since bottoming out in 2008.

The Takeaway

If you’ve been waiting to sell your home for it to recover its pre-recession value, now is the time to make a move. Not only have housing prices recovered to their peak values, but the inventory crisis is driving up prices, making it the perfect market to finally sell your home.

This tour of downtown Jacksonville with Jacksonville Walking Tours a division of AdLib Luxury Tours & Transportation, Inc. is filled with unexpected surprises. The underground tunnel is one of the most intriguing historic areas of downtown Jacksonville. If you have not experienced this tour I urge you to click on the link above and schedule your tour. I have lived in Jacksonville for over half of my life and I had no idea that some of these areas existed.

We also learned some of the future plans for the downtown area. We toured the Florid Theatre and learned about the plans to replace all the seating in the theatre. Did you know there are only 2 companies that create replicas of this type?

Thank You

I would like to take a moment to thank everyone who had a impact large or small, on my business last year. I set out on a journey of which I wasn’t sure I could accomplish but knew deep in my heart that I wanted, no needed to try. While I did not reach every goal I met most and I accomplished more than I ever thought possible.

Thank you to my customers, without you there would be no business. Many of you became close friends and I value everyone of you.

Thank you to my family who have supported me, helped me, listened to me and sacrificed so I could live my adventure.

Thank you to my many friends in the real estate world who have taught me, listened to me, kicked my butt, and supported me.

Thank you my dear friend Key Yessaad. If it weren’t for you I would not be where I am today. I can believe that simple phone call to you asking about SEO turned into a new life. Thank you for all the coaching and advice. Thanks for always telling me the truth, even when it wasn’t always something I wanted to hear. Thanks for always holding me accountable and encouraging me to be courageous even when it wasn’t easy or popular. Thanks for pushing me to believe in myself and to have expectations for myself. Thank you for all those hours of phone calls that have lead me to where I am. But most of all thank you for believing in me even when I didn’t. You will always be my mentor, my inspiration and mostly my friend.
